Spammers love to leave comments on your site. Without this plugin, you could get 100s of spam comments a day. This plugin helps prevent those comments.

To activate, click “Plugins” in the left hand column. You’ll now see a list of plugins installed. At the top, you should see Akismet. Below it, you should see a link for “Settings”. Click on this.

When you are taken to the Akismet page, it will say you need an Akismet API Key.

To get your key, go here: http://akismet.com/

Click the giant blue button that says “Get a WordPress Key”.

Then follow the instructions. At the end, you’ll be emailed an API Key.

Go back to your WordPress site and enter it into the Akismet settings page. You are now all set up.
